Denis has Relief Pitch to land Sox Prospect
The Boston Herald
December 8, 2006
"Rescue Me" hottie Denis Leary said Theo Epstein should just step aside and let him do the contract dance with Red Sox pitching prospect Daisuke Matsuzaka.

"Let me at the kid," the Worcester funnyman told the Track before making the red carpet scene last night at Boston Common's holiday bash at Artistry. "I could get this deal done faster, like, say, five minutes."
"I'd play fast and loose with the Red Sox money. This kid would have his own sushi restaurant and Lenny (Clarke) would be the maitre d'," said the TV jake. "He'd be on 'Rescue Me' and get an Emmy nomination. He could be the happiest Japanese baseball player who ever lived. How hard can this be?"
While Denis was full of p and v about the Olde Towne Team, the die-hard Bruins fan said he's "holding back" an opinion on the black 'n'gold until after the Christmas break.
"I have flashes of excitement and then I get really angry," Leary said. "And damn it to the Celtics."
Yikes!
When Denis isn't glued to ESPN, the cranky comic is writing the fourth season of "Rescue Me," the F/X dramedy about a dysfuctional FDNY house. Shooting on the streets of the Apple begins in about a month.
